    Apparently, the awkward time signature (5/4s, 6/4s etc.) is actually Mussourgsky walking between the exhibits. Mussourgsky was a very large man and the promenade pretty much represents a fat man walking.

    You could give it to the english horn but that’s not very unique or colourful:P Normally I’d object too (bad saxophonist experience) but thankfully the sax is played VERY differently in the orchestra than in jazz or even a symphonic band.
