Dont know what the difference of a 2,3, or 4 grade buz cut looks like and was wondering if someone can show me pictures of what they look like on guys with receding hairlines or mature hairlines, not 14 year old kids since I am older (mid-20s)
My friend gets a buzz number one and his hair line is farther back. I think he looks cute(maybe I’ll get him to let me to take a pic of his head so I can post it on here )lol
Can someone show me a picture of a grade 2 buzz cut on someone with a receding hairline?

Cutting the entire head at #2(1/4") is fairly common with guys experiencing mpb and often is not the best choice with thinning hair on top, as the scalp can be visible through the hair on top but not on the back/sides, which is not a great look with a butch cut. If the top is cut at #2 the back and sides need to be cut short enough to make the top appear thicker than the back and sides. The short pomp styles -crew cut, ivy league(long crew cut), flat top crew cut- can be adapted to work well with a receding widow peaked hairline. A short taper cut can also be worn with a close taper on the back and sides. This will make the top appear thicker. A close enough taper to see scalp through the hair on the lower to mid back/sides. Even with guys who are not thinning, often scalp can be seen through the top hair of a crew cut or flat top crew cut. The idea is to cut the back/sides shorter, so relatively more scalp shows there than through the longer hair on top. The photos at the links below are from an early 1960′s college year book. back then, short buzzed styles were very common among college guys but they almost exclusively wore a crew cut, flat top crew cut or ivy league. Butch haircuts were primarily home haircuts for pre teen aged boys.

Maybe a crew cut. As with all crew cuts, the hair graduate longer to the front hairline to allow the short pomp front to readily form. I don’t mean long but maybe to around 0.8" at the center of the front hairline with his crew cut:

or to 1.5" like this guy’s. The length depends on the slope of the skull to the front hairline:

ivy league:

flat top crew cut:

Grooming any of the short pomp styles- crew cut, ivy league, flat top crew cut- is basically the same.
1) Towel dry hair.
2) Barely dip fingertips in jar of wax.
3)Transfer wax to palms.
4) Smooth palms over hair.
5)Brush hair off forehead to form short pomp front.
Whichever style you decide on, take a photo to help describe the desired haircut to the barber or stylist.
Good Luck!
