every time the figures for my daughters pictures go up someone puts up ALL of the other picture figures by 20,30 and on some occasions by 400 in order that they are always above my daughters .The school says its spiders and bots? but they have been predictable and methodical

bots are – it’s to do with the programming behind them

LOL – that school has some clever kids going to it!

Start a bot war, and beat them at their own game

Wow, that’s messed up that the school acknowledges it but won’t do anything about it. It sounds like either a bug or a bot. It could be a simple error, or maybe someone is intentionally doing this either manually or through a bot. Which is really lame in itself that someone would do that… Talk about desperate.

Maybe try making a new account, or if you can’t make one yourself (if it’s by name or something) demand that the school get you a new one — because that’s very unfair to your daughter.

Anyone can do this by writing a simple piece of software to repeatedly request a particular web page (or set of web pages). It’s very easy to write a small script to do this.

The school’s web server has no idea what software is generating the hit. All it does is supply the data and log the request. Expecting them to "fix" this is unreasonable.

    Hit counts are always unreliable.

Why this view count is so important? Once you realize they are baloney, you can stop worrying about them.
