what is the effect of decriptive language in a picture book on the audience?

It helps young readers to develop their understanding and language skills, relating what they hear or read to what they see in the picture.
Also it may draw their attention to things in the picture which they hadn’t previously noticed. And it puts words to things they have seen in the pictures
