I got hired as an intern and later editor at a local studio….got paid.

I earned a music scholarship to the university I attended and was quite an active participant in my theory classes. I even got to work with groups of students developing their own music in high schools and conduct larger groups of musicians in and outside of the university. I have also been an audio engineer for about a decade.
Truth is, lots of people care about what i think about music…I actually get paid for it, still. So thanks for reminding me
